About The Contest

Cooking is one of the best ways to boost your child’s cognitive development and what better way to spend time at home with your child than an online cooking contest.

 

Junior All Star: Little Home Chef is an online cooking contest open to school children age 7 – 12, residing in Malaysia. This online cooking contest requires a child to team up with one adult (a parent or a guardian) and record themselves (the parent-child team) preparing their most creative and healthiest meal.

 

The contest (voting) period is from the 8 November 2021 – 8 March 2022. You can submit your entry anytime during the period contest. The sooner you submit, the earlier we will upload your video for voting. You can submit before the 8 November 2021 but we will only upload the video entry on the first day of contest .

How To Enter

Follow these steps to prep yourself and to video your awesome gastro creation. This online cooking contest is open to children age 7 – 12 Years Old (Malaysian and Non-Malaysian residing in Malaysia) being accompanied by one (1) adult. Each participants must produce recipes that are compliant with the Ministry of Health’s “Malaysian Healthy Plate” (Pinggan Sihat Malaysia) system.

The contest (voting) period is from the 8 November 2021 – 8 March 2022. You can submit your entry anytime during the period contest. The sooner you submit, the earlier we will upload your video for voting. You can submit before the 8 November 2021 but we will only upload the video on the first day of contest .

Step 1: Team Up!
All Junior Home Chef needs to team up with an adult, be it a parent or a guardian, an older brother or sister, uncle or an aunt. We may need an adult to supervise our children in the kicthen don’t we?
Step 2: Prepare Your Recipe
  1. Prepare your recipes in a Word document. Recipes must be written down in English.
  2. Ensure that the recipes for the dishes are Halal and do not contain any use of pork, lard or alcohol.
  3. Each dish must include these compulsory ingredients (based on the MOH’s Malaysian Healthy Plate system):
    • ¼ Protein (e.g., fish, poultry, meat & legumes)
    • ¼ Grains or starchy foods (e.g., rice, noodle, bread, cereals, cereal products & tubers)
    • ½ Non-starchy vegetables (e.g., any leafy vegetables, broccoli, cucumbers, tomatoes, or sprouts)
Step 3: Record Your Video
Your video recording must have a clear visual and audio recording.
  1. Pre-recording:
    • Wear your apron
    • Ensure there’s enough lighting in your work/kitchen area
    • Get a narrator to explain the cooking process (optional)
    • Videos must be in English or Bahasa Melayu. However, if you must use other languages, please insert a subtitle in the video.
  2. During Recording:
    • Give a quick introduction of the recipes
    • Describe the dish and the ingredients
    • Clearly explain the preparation and cooking process of the dish
    • All cooking must be done by the child contestant with the supervision and assistance of the parent/guardian.
  3. Completing Video Recording:
    • Record a full display of your dish. End the video by announcing the contest tagline #juniorallstar and #masakmasakmalaysia
    • Edit the video to keep it within 3 – 5 mins duration (file size less than 150mb)
Step 4: Submit Your Dish
Your video recording must have a clear visual and audio recording.
  1. Save the Recipe (Word document) and Video, and name both files in this format: FIRST NAME-last 6 digits of your NRIC (e.g., ALI-123456)
  2. Fill out your details on the registration page, upload your video file and recipe Word document, and click Submit.
  3. Share us your Facebook and Instagram username/handle.
